You can access the forest directly from the road, and with a deeper dive, you’ll find several trails. 


The area isn’t a maintained hiking park, so you’ll want to make sure you bring your own water and GPS—but that’s part of the appeal. The untouched land allows you to reconnect with nature, and take in the views all around you.



2. Lake Mead

Lake Mead is another popular destination point, and with water, cliffs, and plenty of sun, it’s worth the visit. Whether you’re taking easy shoreline paths, or scrambling through slot canyons, there are plenty of trails throughout the area for you to explore. 


Want a break from hiking? Take a swim in the waters, or rent a kayak for additional day-long fun. Grapevine Canyon, although a little bit further out from Meadview, has ancient petroglyphs, with a short hike that leads to the tribal carvings. It’s one of the best-kept secrets in the area.

Other popular trails include Meadowview Wash, an out-and-back trail near Meadview. With over 7 miles of trail, it’s considered a challenging route, so bringing quality shoes is a must. Panoramic views of the surrounding desert, along with light foot traffic, make this trail a peaceful hiking experience, all away from the crowds.

Stargazing: Observing the Skies

With its remote location, Meadview has some of the darkest, most prettiest skies in the United States. With very minimal pollution in the sky, Meadview is the perfect spot for stargazing. You don’t even need a telescope—just look up. Great spots include:



  • Meadview Overlook: Not only does this overlook show great views of Lake Mead during the day, but is an excellent spot to see the stars at night.

  • Pearce Ferry Road: The further you head down this road, the darker the sky becomes—illuminating the stars.
